Your favorite colors?
Purples, any shade, and pinks, any shade.

Preferred yarn weight (Fingering, Sport, DK, maybe even Worsted)?
No preference.

Do you prefer solid or multicolored yarn?

If your buddy is able to do so, would you like a variegated, self-striping, or
self-patterning yarn?
Either is fine with me 🙂

Would you be interested in a wool blend sock yarn (nylon, tencel, silk, acrylic,
alpaca, etc.)?
It’s all good 🙂

Imagine the perfect colorway. What would you name it?

I honestly have no clue.  But it would have pinks and purples in it.

What was the biggest appeal to you for joining this dye-along?
Learning to do something new and finding out there are so many different ways to do it was the most appealing thing to me.

General yarn/fiber questions:

Have you dyed yarn/fiber before?

If so, what’s your favorite dye and method?
I’ve only ever done it with kool aid and wilton’s, and I preferred the kool aid.

Do you spin?
Not yet!

Have you knit socks before?

Do you use sock yarn for just socks or in other patterns too?
I’ve used it for other things too.  I made a baby pullover sweater with it once, it looked great 🙂

What are some of your favorite yarns?

Lorna’s laces, Noro Kureyon, Cascade 220, Lamb’s Pride, cashcotton…but really the list could go on and on 🙂

What yarn do you totally covet?
Any yarn that I don’t have in my stash! *grin*

Favorite patterns?
Baby items are my favorite, be they sweaters, hats, booties, socks.  Not too fond of baby blankets, but the rest…Love it!  Next fave patterns are socks for anyone 🙂

Any pattern you would love to make if money and time were no object?

A sweater for myself.

Favorite kind of needles (brand, materials, straights or circs, etc)?
Addis for circs, I haven’t found dpn’s that I favor yet.  I don’t like to use straights, but if I have to, I like Clover.

If you were a specific kind of yarn, which brand and kind of yarn would you be?
Not sure… some sort of self striping sock yarn, because I think my mood changes as often as the socks do right now, being post partum and hormonal all the time!

Nothing to do with knitting/yarn/fiber in any way but seemed kinda fun:

Do you have a favorite candy or mail-able snack?

What’s your favorite animal?

Dogs 🙂

Do you have pets? What are their species/names/ages?
No pets

If you were a color what color would you be?

Describe your favorite shirt (yours or someone else’s)..

It’s just a light purple camisole that I love to wear underneath everything.  It even has the built in bra! 🙂

What is your most inspiring image, flower, or object in nature?

Tell me the best quote you’ve ever heard or read.
Not sure…

Do you have a wishlist?

Dear Postpartum Depression,

You shan’t be invited to spend anytime with me during this postpartum period, as I’ve already had a visit or two from you in the past, and you wore out your welcome at that time.  I can hear you knockin’ on the dang door, but I’m not opening it, no matter how slowly the weight seems to come off, or no matter how ugly my hair might look one day.  It’s those little things that you try to use to sneak in and take over, but I’m not allowing that this time.  SO BITE ME.

Happily notpregant 🙂

I’m having a great time on vacation in Oregon.  We left right after Matthew’s 2 week well child check.  The car was packed up so we took off for the trip immediately after the pediatrician said “have fun.”  My doctor gave me the ok the same day, that morning.  I was excited to go, and we’ve been here one week, staying on one more week, then heading back.  I’m not really looking forward to that long drive, but oh well.  If we leave Monday afternoon and get most of the traveling done at night, it really isn’t too bad.  My husband is the greatest, he drove most of the way.  I think I was at the helm for *maybe* an hour and a half before he said he was good to go again.  We were considering staying in a hotel, but the thought was not appealing to either of us, dragging the kids out of the car, unloading, etc, just for a few hours.  He also said “I know you don’t want to spend your entire birthday driving in the car.”  That was thoughtful of him, because he was right.  But I didn’t want to say that to him and be all whiney about it, especially since he’s done so much for me lately 🙂

Matthew is a great baby, and the socks I knitted from Mim’s pattern fit him perfectly, and everyone loved them.  My sister requested a pair for her 18 month old, so I was able to knit up a pair for her.  We had to find a yarn store so she could pick out some sock yarn.  We found one in Eugene, OR called The Knit Shop.  Quite the stock pile of yarn there!!!  Nice selection of sock yarns too.  She ended up getting some REALLY brightly colored yarn by Regia.  I can’t find a picture of it online, but the label says “4-FACH HALTBAR” and under that 4-fadig Nation Color, and the “a” in “fadig” has two dots over it 🙂  It stripes in several colors,  yellow, orange, red, teal, blue, purple, green… it’s beautiful.  And the way it turned out, my niece has fraternal socks, and I love it LOL.  I used an addi size 2, the magic loop method, and they turned out perfect for her fat little feet 🙂

We had a family reunion this weekend at Rockaway Beach, OR, and it was REALLY fun!  Jessica became a beach bum and has a tomato colored face to show for it.  I knitted socks while there, and showed off my hand dyed kool aid yarn 🙂  My aunt gave me a sock needle set for my birthday and my cousin’s daughter put in a request for socks for her sister that’s to join our world in August.  She insisted I use my green and orange kool aid yarn, and the pink needles because pink is for girls, and her baby sister is going to be a girl.  Apparently you have to pay attention to that when choosing what color needles to use.  Fortunately, they are the perfect size for bitty socks and they are turning out ok.  I’m just not very good with dpn’s, and as slow as I am with the magic loop method, I’m REALLY slow with dpn’s.  I can manage them ok, I just don’t have much speed.  But the end product is turning out fine, and I’m good with that 🙂

I hope everyone had a great Mother’s day if they’re a mom, and a great Sunday if they aren’t 🙂
