It seems like I’m not very busy, but when I look back, I’ve been quite the opposite. My sister came to visit a couple weeks ago, and I started her “bun” a baby blanket. She’s due with my first nephew on my side of the family in November! 🙂 I am doing a simple garter stitch blanket that started out as a dishcloth. It’s from http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com and I think it’s the “Idiot’s Dishcloth” It’s not a large blanket, but more of a receiving type. I like it. I’m using some sport (or maybe a titch smaller?) weight cotton yarn that my aunt got me from a thrift store near where she lives.
I also went to a baby shower, where I gave the new little guy a pair of baby socks that I knit using a toe up pattern that I just made up as I went along. It has a short row heel. I’ve grown quite fond of short row heels. While my socks weren’t the best present at the shower, I did notice they were the only present that got passed around to everyone. It made me giddy LOL
My best friend from high school is getting married this weekend in Eastern Washington and I’m going up for that. I haven’t seen her in a few years and I’m looking forward to it. She asked me to be a bridesmaid, and I got to choose from a lilac colored dress, or a light yellow. I chose lilac. Apparently sandals go with it 🙂 Shoes and a dress! What more could a gal want? Well, happiness for the bride and groom would be ok too 🙂
My hubster’s parents are coming up next week. They leave on Saturday and said they’ll spend Monday and Tuesday here. I’m looking forward to seeing them, as are my hubster and the kiddos of course! I’ll be back from my trip on Sunday, so I will get to see them the whole time they’re here. They are going to drive back to Utah through northern California. I think they’ll love that, it’s gorgeous!
I’ve been doing some volunteer work online at http://www.familysearchindexing.com typing in names and dates into a spreadsheet from census forms from 1900 that have been scanned in. I’ve been having a lot of fun with it. There was one woman who’s family I typed in, she was black, widdowed and had like 9 kids, and I felt bad for her. It was probably hard enough to be black at that time, let alone widowed with 9 kids.
And in doing this indexing of names, it got me even more interested in US History. It makes me want to know more about the people who were here before me. Anyone recommend any good history books/stories/etc?
We’re planning a quick camping trip after the inlaws leave. The kids have never been, and we thought it would be a fun way to spend a weekend. And there are eleventy hundred places around here to go camping, so that’s nice too 🙂
So all that on top of dealing with the regular day to day stuff (kids, laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc). No wonder I’m so tired!! It’s been fun though.
And now, I was sitting here thinking. In doing this indexing, the program that you download has a hilighted square covering the information that you’re to type in, and it moves as you hit tab or enter to go to the next cell/column/row/etc. I was thinking how nice it would be to have something like that for knitting charts and just being able to use my laptop to maintain the pattern and just move the little hilighted doohickey around. Anyone know of anything like that??? If I were cool enough I could make something up, but I’m not, and I have no desire to even attempt that LOL If anyone knows of something cool like that, I’d love to know about it 🙂
With that, I bid y’all (ya’ll?) farewell for now!
